The Fiber Artists of San Antonio (FASA) presents Rooted in Fiber: The Natural Textures of Texas, the 2025 Annual Juried exhibition.
Selected works of art will be on exhibition at the University of the Incarnate Word Semmes Gallery in San Antonio, Texas, from October 12th through November 14, 2025.
Rooted in Fiber invites Texas artists to create works of art that celebrate fiber and the diverse natural textures found across the Texas landscape.
Artists are encouraged to explore and incorporate the rich variety of textures, colors, lines, and forms found in the natural environment of Texas. While artwork may also include manufactured materials and media (such as paint, thread, cloth, canvas, cardboard, wire, lumber, etc.), entries should reflect the growing movement toward reconnecting with the natural world. Artists are invited to express and highlight our personal and communal ties to nature through the medium of fiber art.
Juror for the exhibition is Paula Owen, an artist and President Emerita of Southwest School of Art, a position she held for 27 years. She has served as juror for many awards, exhibitions and fellowships, and has been honored by the City of San Antonio and the San Antonio Art League, among others. Since retiring in 2022, she has been working on curatorial and writing projects as well as in her studio.
